CAPS Experience
CAPS (Center for Advanced Professional Studies) is an extension of high school where juniors and seniors can take classes that are tailored to their career interests. I am partaking in the Blue Valley CAPS program for high school and college credit as a Senior for the 1st and 2nd semesters. I take the Digital Design and Photography class.
Personal Branding
KC Pretzel Boy’s Client Project
At CAPS, not only do we work on our own content, but we also get to work with people outside of CAPS in order to gain more experience and stretch our creativity. KC Pretzel Boy’s is a pretzel shop that my class got to create new marketing materials for. We wanted to freshen up their social media and target a younger audience.
Spooky Movie Poster
This assignment was to create a spooky movie poster based off of a children’s game. My chosen game was the physical version of Simon says. I attempted to give the poster an ominous feel using photoshop.
Passion Project Calendar
I love the way my Passion Project turned out. It is not what I had originally had in mind but that was expected. I think the changes I made, such as Illustration instead of photography and a more dynamic color palette, were both things that improved the outcome. I learned a lot about Adobe Illustrator while doing this project. Specifically, I learned more about artboards, guidelines, and color swatches. I found it unexpectedly challenging to put my illustrations and design elements all together because of how many moving parts were involved, such as dates, dimensions, organization, and vectorization. Overall I am very proud of what I created and I feel that I learned a lot.
4 Valentines
This Valentines project was definitely one of my favorites so far. For this project I was tasked to complete 4 Valentines to hand out to my classmates. I love working with print media because it’s so much fun to see my work come to life on paper and be used how it was intended. I tried to do different styles for each one. I really enjoyed working in Illustrator especially now that I have become much more proficient in it. It was so much fun to hand them out in class!
Committed Graphic
While Photoshop isn’t my best strength, I really enjoyed this project and learned a lot in the process. In this committed graphic for Lucy, I used the blue color from her T-shirt to make it cohesive, and I used the EMT logo in the background for dimension. I learned more about how to use the selection tools in photoshop, along with the layers panel and effects.
Flyer Client Project
This project was given to me by Dr. Crane; I made a flyer for a Teacher/Adviser retreat happening in the summer. This specific flyer was meant to focus on the health and science education part of the event. I did my best to make the flyer eye catching while also including their theme colors and health related graphics.
